Before I heard of manga, I wanted to write a book. I’ve been doing research since 1994, now I think I’ve gathered enough material to write it. It’s been my dream to write a comprehensive, illustrated encyclopedia of mythological creatures from around the world. I finally got a list of monsters from Japan & China, the two countries I was lacking information of. The problem is, there’s so many beasts!!! I can’t possibly create a complete list, so what I’ll do is to just have the most famous mythical creatures, plus some most people haven’t heard of!

I’m excited that I’ve gathered a complete list of all sub-species of Dragons, youkai & other classical beasts. I’m excluding cryptids, “living dinosaurs”, kraken, sasquatch, yeti, ghosts, Gods & Goddesses. I want to keep the Beastiary of only classic, mythical creatures like Pegasus & stuff. I’m trying to narrow it down to 200-250 beasts, since there’s alota repeats…there’s like 10 different names for faires, nymphs & goblins! I’ll include kitsune in there as well, even though foxes are a very real animal, but the fantasy side of them is too interesting to pass up!

I can’t wait to get started on this project, but it’ll have to wait until Ronin Yoshino chapter 9 is over.
